Kate F. Kuehn is the founder and principal of Kate F. Kuehn Design & Consulting, an independent firm providing thoughtful residential interior design, spatial planning, and expert construction oversight.
Kate works closely with homeowners to bring clarity, comfort, and functional beauty to their spaces. Her design consultations are tailored around how a home should flow, helping clients navigate every step of a renovation—from initial design presentations and detailed drawings to material selections, lighting, and finishes. With a keen eye for proportion and practicality, Kate helps shape every decision, thoughtfully determining wall layouts for daily ease of living down to placing outlets and selecting appliances.
Raised in Loudoun County, Virginia, Kate earned her degree from the University of Virginia’s School of Architecture while competing on the varsity Division I softball team. Following graduation, she moved to Manhattan to launch her career at Peter Pennoyer Architects, beginning a 12-year tenure in New York City. Over nearly a decade at Peter Pennoyer Architects, along with key roles at GRADE New York and Kligerman Architecture & Design, Kate cultivated deep technical expertise in classical architecture, residential design, and complex construction management.
Now based in Darien, Connecticut, Kate brings that rigorous architectural background directly to local homeowners looking for an extra layer of support during home projects and renovations. Operating as a trusted client proxy and advocate, she offers dedicated Owner’s Representation and construction consulting—meticulously reviewing technical plans, evaluating budgets, streamlining communication, and coordinating with builders, trades, and craftspeople from initial layout concepts through to final build completion.
